Our fantastic and fearless intern Paige is the first person in the office to cross the finish line. She's got some words of encouragement from the winner's circle. And she'd love to know how you'll celebrate your win!
OOH the end feels so close! When I hit 50K, I'm going to a) dance around like a crazy fool b) smile nonstop for three days c) get some amazing grub and a bottle of bubbly d) order a printed copy of the (very rough but still beloved!!) manuscript from blurb.com. Just having a physical copy will make me giddy with delight!!
Haha this is Exactly what I'm going to do! All of the Above! Having just hit 50,014 words I'm smiling and dancing my way to the store for amazing grub and bubbly, and heading to blurb.com for that manuscript! LOVE IT!! Cheers to all!
I hit it last night and I just flipped out. It's my first year and at one point I got around 4000 words behind and I didn't think I was going to make it. I was on an emotional high the whole night and I still am!
i am so going to play endless video games, drink soda, and hang with my nanofriends!!! cant wait! (and im only 14, which is y im not doing anything really intersting...
I won early Saturday morning. I celebrated by plugging it into the validator and sitting down to start the next novel, after spending the whole month wishing I'd gone with that one instead of the one I did pick.
So far I've bragged about it on Facebook to my friends, who are probably very tired of seeing my daily status updates about my word count. I've also treated myself to Wendy's, with plans for a milkshake tomorrow. :) I'm also going to not look at my computer, other than for work, for at least the rest of the week. I am really, really glad to be done; I've been behind since week 1, at least 10k words in the hole most of the time, but Thanksgiving break saved me. I wrote about 30k words in the past week, and I am exhausted and victorious...and going to bed.
Well, I for one am planning to make Caramel Apple Cheesecake when I win... I love caramel apples, and I love cheesecake, but we never have enough cream cheese to make it. I'm also going to clean my room, do laundry, and finish my homework... not necesarily in that order- actually, reverse that, but the cheesecake comes first, of course
yes, yes you are... and I totally get where you're coming from. I have to finish so I can work on a term paper... *sigh* But I'm already working on an idea for my next NaNo novel....
I'm going to this convention thingy this weekend, except that it'll be totally informal and fun. And I'm going to do that... have fun. I told myself that if I didn't finish I would feel guilty and not have much fun (and knowing how I work, that would happen). I get to dress as Maria from West Side Story and do whatever they want me to do in that character. How can someone not consider that fun?!
I just ordered my Winner's Circle Tee and bought a bottle of champagne. Thinking positive. But if I don't stop reading all these forums, I may never get done.
I want champagne. being under aged stinks. shall have to settle for sparkling cider if i can find it we don't really have a grocery store around here,at least not one i can get to. we sell ginger beer though i might pick up a bottle for my reward.
I'm going to have a relaxing evening of doing nothing at all. I WON'T drink coffee - been doing that all month - but I will eat chocolate, and drink an aforementioned glass of pink champagne, and maybe I'll even get around to coloring my hair. IT WILL BE GLORIOUS.
I'm going to have a party with my friends who all did nanowirmo! We'll share parts of our stories, and have a good laugh over the rougher parts that we share with each other! Man, there's going to be a lot of those!
I shall read. And read. And, well... read. I shall spend countless hours at the library, getting back together with all of my other obsessive library friends who I have been ignoring for the past month, and I will help them plan our annual Library Yule Ball. =3 Oh, the joys of being a nerd.
I ended up getting and eating a nice, big piece of chocolate cake at Buffalo Wild Wings while playing trivia as my celebration, but this was only after I finished the novel itself.
Oh, there will be very much sleeping for me. And a "You finally finished something you started!" ring that I've been eyeing up for about six months but couldn't justify buying. And possibly brownies or cupcakes. And then more sleep.
MizJessa wrote: "You finally finished something you started!" ring
I love your reward, MizJessa! I might have to look into one of those myself...but it will have to wait until NaNoWriMo 2012 because I haven't been eyeing a special ring for the last six months! Maybe I should find it now and go for Camp NaNoWriMo? Then I'll find another one to "eye" for November?
BRAGGING RIGHTS. I'm gonna tell my english teacher, and all my friends, and my parents, and my sister, and then, i'm going to finish my novel (i doubt i'll be done the story at 50K, though i'll be close).
I'd buy some nano stuff, but as all of my money is in hard cash, i can't really. But then again, christmas is coming... hmmm..
and then i will probably dance around my room like a crazy person. and when i am done, i will read instead of write, and then just not write again until christmas. too much homework! this month has been such a crazy adventure!
Haha, well I already cheated and treated myself halfway through this month, buying myself a tablet :) I'll probably just smile all day and tell everyone I know...That's really all I can afford to do right now :p
I just won! :D Must finish homework first (drat!) but then I plan on watching one of my favorite movies (Either Paul Blart or Elf haha) and treating myself to some sort of dessert. Hopefully, this weekend, I will be able to celebrate with my friends by going ice skating and then having a movie night. :)
Congrats to all who have won! Everyone else, keep going! You can do it! :)
already reserved a hotel room about 15 mins. from home for a Friday night "getaway" by myself to enjoy a nice room with cable, Internet, and a new book :-D
I jumped up from my chair and ran into the kitchen, screaming "I WON! OH MY GOSH I WON!" and then jumping around some more, and then running to tell the Purple Elephants, a lovely NaNoing group in the Teens forum. And then, I collapsed, and watched TV.

Sparkling cider can still be nice and celebratory if you drink it from a crystal goblet or even a fancy glass! :)

Ahem to that!
Re: Day 28: Paige Wins!
If I manage to whip out 20k by the end of the month, I may just buy myself a new book and read it all in a day.
