SynopsisQuincey Luce was bored out of his mind. Jaded and despondent his friend takes him to a carnival of all places. But this place seems a bit different than the cotton candy coated side shows he's used to. "Der Teufels Bruders Karneva"l was the name on the poster, and according to most it's just a quaint little spectacle from some cute bavarian town. Sure that's true when you first arrive; the vendors are friendly, and the rides are thrilling enough. Not that it impresses Quincey.
Then the pair are pulled aside and a ticket is slipped into their hands. A ticket promising to admit them to a very special midnight extravaganza. They linger after the fairground closes to witness the mystique and magic of the witching hour circus. The ring master, Hithero Pheles, promises excitement to all with his unique interpretation of the american institution of the circus where the audience is more a part of the act than the acrobats and animals. But the show really starts when the tents close. That's when Quincey begins to notice the lives of those who participated in HIthero's acts are mirroring their adventures in the big top. And when the realization that the carnival's magic might be the cure to the monotony that's become his life, Quincey submits to becoming the ring master's apprentice.
