SynopsisJust you wait.
ExcerptI know that the Feds fear us.
Without exception, humans always feel safer when they’re in control, when they rule supreme, whether it is over a family, a religion, or an empire. Ever since they first gained sentience, they have been the supreme life form on Earth. People like me, who have been altered, enhanced, repaired, a few scientist see us as we are, the future of the human race. All the others see us as a threat to them. When they see people like me, like us, they fear us.
They remember Hitler, Genghis Khan, Osama bin Ladin, and the fear those mere mortals inspired. Some say love conquers all. Those people are sadly mistaken. Fear can change the course of history. It was fear of the mastodon and sabretooth that pushed the early humans to create weapons. It was the fear of Carthage which made Rome great. It was fear of the Nazis that made the atomic bomb. It was fear of us that drove them to lock us up in this small town, enforce rule after regulation, and condition us to believe that we are only here to serve them, that they are superior.
They are wrong. Their fears are valid. We are superior. We are the birds, they are the dinosaurs, and The Ice Age is coming. They will be slaughtered, while we shall evolve, and become like gods. And then, when the last, weak, diminutive Homo sapiens crawls to my feet and begs for mercy, I shall crush him, kill him, scatter his remains through the wind. Then, the scourge of the universe, that plague of galaxies, shall never again infect our perfect dominion. Then, when all is said and done, I shall laugh.
