USA :: Texas :: Austin
4 days agoTwo pre-NaNoWriMo events to get the creative juices flowing and get you ready for November!
Saturday Oct. 10th, 2-4 PM
Orange Coworking (2110 W Slaughter Ln #160, Austin, TX 78748)
Join us for an official NaNoWriMo prep panel to discuss how to (actually!) write a novel. We'll look at all elements of creating a novel. Topics might include how to come up with "a good idea"; plotting your novel in advance (or not!); the revision and editing process; and what to do with it when you're done.
Joining us at this event are four professionals who bring different angles to the discussion: Laurie Leiker, professional writer, editor and indie author; Natalia Sylvester, debut author and writing instructor; Jeff Printy, author and mad genius behind Write or Die!; and acclaimed author Skyler White.
This event is organized by Austin NaNoWriMo and graciously hosted by Orange Coworking. It is free and open to the public.
Sunday, Oct. 18th, 5-7pm
Half Price Books (5555 N Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX)
As part of the Indie Publishing Austin meetup, NaNoWriMo veterans and Municipal Liaisons will be discussing how NaNoWriMo works, best practices/how to get the most out of it, and why they keep coming back for more.
Participating in the discussion will be NaNoWriMo Municipal Liaisons Lori Thomas and Jackie Dana, as well as indie authors Vidya Gopalakrishna, Abby Goldsmith, Adrian Hale, Aaron Gallagher, and Tina Anderson.
This event is free and open to the public, but Indie Publishing Austin requests that you join the meetup and RSVP to attend: http://www.meetup.com/Indie-Publishing-Austin/events/225092802/

11 months agoHello Wrimo's! Well I had a great time at our kick-off, and from what y'all told me you did too.
A big, huge shout-out and thank you to Dragon's Lair for once again being amazing hosts. To Greg and his staff, we couldn't do this without them. We had over 50 ppl show up throughout the evening, and it was standing room only for Elizabeth's 'Author Talk Q&A'. The food was awesome, and you guys did a good job of cleaning up after yourselves. Zack & I really appreciate that.
I have to say "I love Elizabeth Moon!" She was fantastic, and you guys asked really excellent questions. Thank you, because it really kept the event moving smoothly.
A couple of quick items of note:
If you use twitter, please follow #Nanowordsprints to help you through the month.
If you use Facebook, please send your request to join the AunoWrimo Facebook Group.
It know it's early in the month, but we will once again be celebrating our triumphs with the TGIO party - a potluck followed by the 2nd Annual Haiku Geocaching Pubcrawl! More info to come.
Have a great writing weekend!
