Some of my fellow overachievers get even crazier ideas of how to overachieve. (Yes, I said crazier.) Crazier as in they look at their computers and go "Hmm, bet I could write 50k in a day." *cue evil laughter*
People have won this thing before, I think. I'm pretty sure Sushi got there (or was pretty darn close?). Anyways, it doesn't matter what day you decide to do it. Or if you decide to do multiple 50kKillMeNow days. (But if you do, allow me to offer up some prayers for y'alls wrists. ;))
Keep track of your progress here. Not constant posting (there's a Twitter hashtag for that), but at the end of your 50k day/s, post what you got, complain about how hard it was (if you're still able to type), and congratulate each other's progress!
Oh and advice. Offer advice. We're all gonna need it.
I'm going for it November 2nd, hopefully we can livestream it on Google Hangouts, let people watch me writing ridiculously fast, and most likely terribly, while my sister and buddy watch over me in person, keeping me on track. It's going to hurt so good...
Lol, that was my immediate reaction. I mean, I'd love to write 50k in one day, but then I do the math for my writing speed (1.2k/hr x 24 hours in a day = a lot less than 50k) and realize it's actually, physically impossible for me.
50k day is as much physical endurance as you know, actually writing all the words. You might be able to write just over 2k an hour, but can you do that every hour for 24 hours straight? Or more once you factor in eating and going to the bathroom and occasional Internet breaks. Or even more if you want to sleep.
It's every all-nighter you ever pulled in school, multiplied by at least ten. But at least the end result doesn't have to be good.
Yeah. The more I think about what would be involved, the more I admire you guys who have done it... and the ones who have already tried (like Quix). And I'm amazed you guys are back for more!! What an inspiration to the rest of us!! :D
It's physically possible for me... If I'd take literally ALL 24 hours for it (so I wouldn't have to maintain my top speed which I can't). And yeah, I just don't think I want to do it enough to try that.
I posted this one the DORG forum, but I'll post here, too. I'm attempting a 50k Day One in an attempt to make up for last year, when I only wrote 30k on day one. If I succeed, I am fairly certain that will be my only attempt at 50k in a day. If I fail, I may very well join others in later attempts.
