Welcome back to another wonderful year of noveling madness! For those of you new to the region, we'll be your friendly hosts this month. I'm Ixy-Pixy. This is my 11th year participating in NaNo and seventh year as ML for East Bay. I’m looking forward to writing with you!

Honeywell is joining us for her fourth year as ML and 8th year as
NaNoWriMo participant. She too is excited to organize and write
amongst the wrimos for yet another year. Mwalker is also with us as co-ML. This will be his fourth year as ML..

We have a lot of fun coming up. We'll be hosting a Meet & Greet on October 30th at Dublin's Panera where you can get to know your fellow NaNo participants before the craziness that is November, plan your story, and play some games. On November 1st, we're hosting a kick-off at the Berkeley Public Library’s Central Library. There will be some prizes and contests and goodies. Feel free to bring any leftover Halloween candy that you would like to share!

Make sure you check the forums and our calendar and set your home region to East Bay.

The month is almost up, dearest wrimos, and whether you've already finished or you're still grasping at those last few hundred words (or thousand... *ahem*), you should all be proud of yourselves.

Come celebrate the end of the month and the end (or beginning) of your novel tomorrow with your MLs tomorrow, Saturday November 30th at the Central Berkeley Library located in scenic downtown Berkeley! Located at 2090 Kittredge Street, just two blocks south of the Downtown Berkeley BART station. Party starts at 11:00 and goes until they kick us out at 3:30.

Thank you wrimos for an awesome first weekend of NaNoWriMo! It's been wonderful getting to meet so many of you at our kickoffs at Panera Dublin and the Alameda Free Library, as well as at local write-ins. We hope to see you at other events throughout the month. If I doubt, look for the crowd with the rubber duckies whispering ideas to the table.

If there's a time or place where you'd like to host your own write-in, you need do nothing more than comment on the stickied thread in this forum. Thank you, and happy novelling!

Come join us for our final, informal TGIO at Dublin's Panera Cafe. We'll be reminiscing, relaxing, and perhaps trying to finish our novels (or begin revising).

Today is Donation Derby Day!

If NaNoWriMo has made a difference in your life, please consider giving back by giving them some financial support. Every little bit helps. If only 10 people donate $10 each, we'll move up from our #7 spot and take down Chicago!

If you need more tempting to donate today - there are hourly raffle prizes! Check out the main page for more information.

Donation Day is this Wednesday, East Bay Wrimos! And the OLL needs all the help it can get this year to raise money to keep things running smoothly and maintain NaNo and the YWP as we know them. Buy a little something in the store, make a donation, or give your pocket change to Ixy-Pixy or Honeywell- you won't get a halo for the last option but every penny in the box will be matched by a very generous source.

Let's show San Francisco which side of the bay knows how to fund raise!

East Bay is officially in the top 25 regions in terms of total word count. Keep up the good work!

Honeywell and Ixy-Pixy are hosting a halfway party on November 15th at Dublin's Panera. See the calendar for more details.

In addition to popping in at different write-ins throughout the region, Ixy Pixy is hosting a write-in on Tuesdays in San Ramon's Peet's and Honeywell is hosting on Sundays and Tuesdays in Berkeley. Both MLs will be at the Dublin Panera Write-ins on Thursday. We hope to see you there!

Greetings and Salutations East Bay Wrimos!
You may have been noticing the changes in the weather and in people's clothing in the last few weeks. Yes, the sun is setting later, your neighbors are having cookouts on the weekend, and the kids are counting down for that day of the year that is possibly the highest holy day of childhood: The Last Day of School. Maybe you're out in the 'burbs and have replaced all your coats and pants with short sleeves and sun dresses, or maybe the fog and wind have been replaced with sun and light jacket weather. Wherever you live in this great region that is the East Bay, there is no denying that summer is on the way.
Yes, I can't believe it either. It seems like just yesterday I was shivering by my space heater, drinking hot cocoa, and typing my hands off in my attempts of writing 50K. Now, I'm still shivering because Berkeley is cold, but the space heater is in the closet and the cocoa has been replaced by lemonade. And without warning, like a deer jumping in front of you in the road, like a mosquito flying into your face, like raccoons making themselves at home on your reclining furniture as soon as your family leaves for vacation, the first session of Camp NaNoWriMo is upon us.
What is Camp NaNoWriMo you ask? Why, it's getting in touch with nature from the comfort of your favorite writing venue to write a novel in the summer! Camp will be in session during the months of June and August, and the same rules as NaNoWriMo will be in place. Head on over to http://campnanowrimo.org/ to get your cabin assignments, meet your fellow campers, and write that great summer novel! Or, if you're not ready to ride that rickety bus through the woods yet, join the fun in August when we do it all over again.
Hot s'mores and wieners on sticks to all,
Honeywell and Ixy-Pixy

Celebrate being halfway to victory (or simply surviving the first half of the month) with us on November 17th at Dublin's Panera's Bakery and Cafe. We'll be there from 6:30 to 9 with stickers, word wars, and words of encouragement.

We're working out the final glitches with the calendar so be sure to check for upcoming events near you! If you have an event you'd like to add to the schedule, please send one of us a PM.

Be sure to set East Bay as your regional home to receive pep talks and have your word count help us in the regional competition.
