Writer friends, you have done gloriously this month. Whether you wrote 50 words or 50, can still write a little more. Four more days. Keep going!

We're over 421k words for Cape Breton! Pat yourselves on the back, writers. You're awesome!

It's Week Two, folks, and you know what that usually might flouder, get stuck, feel like nothing makes sense, hate your novel, hate yourself, and wonder why you ever thought you could do this in the first place. DON'T PANIC! 98%* of your fellow novelists are feeling all or some of these things right now, and there's only one secret to getting through/past it. Just. Keep. Going. Yep, that's it. Just don't give up. Keep writing and things will fall into place, and you'll start to feel better. It'll get easier after the Week Two Slump, I promise.
* Not a real statistic. But pretty darn close.

Backup Reminder! Have you backed up your novel yet? I backup every day because the thought of losing even a sentence that I've sweated over... *deep breaths* Well. Anyway. There are so many ways to back up your work--to a USB, to the cloud, even just emailing yourself a copy--there's no excuse for taking chances. Back up your work today!

And we're off! Some of you have already started writing. Some of you (like me), are fiddling around with word count trackers, making a few last-minute notes, and determining the perfect coffee temperature. Whatever works for you, do it...just get that first batch of words done today. "Well begun is half done"...said someone who never did NaNoWrimo... ;)

Hey Cape Breton NaNoWriMo Participants!

Our first event will be our Kick-Off on Sunday, October 29th. Join us at the CBU Cooperative Study Club, New Dawn Centre for Social Innovation, 37 Nepean Street Sydney, Nova Scotia, from 1 to 2 pm to meet some of your fellow Cape Breton Wrimos and share your plans (or lack of them!) for this year's novel challenge! Ask questions, get tips and advice, and hang out with other writers--it's always fun.

I look forward to seeing you there!

The countdown is on! Do you have a plot? An idea? Are you going in cold with word one? You can do NaNo whatever way you want, which is cool. And if you want to do some planning, there's still time! Check the forums and post to the group if you want to chat about your project--or lack of one. :)

A week and a bit left! How is your novel doing? At this point, some of you are thinking of giving up--or maybe you already have. Catching up from here may seem like an impossible task. And maybe it is. But you know, you could still write a LOT of words between now and the end of November. Sure, you might not hit 50k...and that's okay. You'll still have written more than you had at the beginning of the month, and getting words on paper is what it's all about. So I just want to say, KEEP WRITING. It's not over until midnight strikes on the 30th and we all turn back into pumpkins. Or something. :)

The countdown is on! Do you have your characters, plots, and outlines all set to go? Or are you about to dive in without a life preserver? Either way, We'll all be in the same boat on Tuesday. Let's sink or swim together!
