7 months agoWell done, wrimos! This month you donated $75.55 to Orwell! Through the power of currency exchange rates, that's almost the exact perfect amount to make a $60 USD donation to NaNo. Woohoo!
7 months agoCongrats everyone, what an awesome month! And remember, even if you didn't win or reach your goal, every word you wrote got you ahead of where you were in October. Well done!
7 months agoThere are only 3 days left. Good luck everyone.
7 months agoPurple bars are appearing across the region. Congrats to the winners! Good luck to those of you still in the word trenches. And if you're getting something out of NaNo (a first draft, a rewrite, good writing habits), please consider donating to help NaNo keep running every year. If you can't commit to NaNo Store donation amounts, drop some spare change into Orwell at our next event. :)
7 months agoThis Saturday at 8, we'll begin the best part of the month. The overnight write-in.
7 months agoJust over half-way through. Are you past 25,000 words yet?
8 months agoDon't forget to set your clocks back!
8 months agoIt's tiiiiiiiiiime!!!!
8 months agoPlease note that our first write-in has been relocated from KPL to Kwartzlab. See you there!
8 months agoJust a quick note: Please check the region's Google calendar if you're making plans ahead. There were two WLU library events that have been moved from Saturday to Friday.
8 months agoOur first event of the new season is a planning session at KPL on October 22nd, starting at 2pm. See you there!
9 months agoSoooooooooooooooon!
over 1 year agoCongrats, wrimos! This year we raised $38.60 through Orwell! Between the donation options on the website and the magic of the Cdn-US exchange rate, $33.25 of that has been gifted to the NaNo program. The remaining $5.35 will go back into Orwell and count toward next year's donation. Thanks so much for helping a great cause. You guys rock!
over 1 year agoHuzzah! We made it! Congrats everyone, you did awesome. Even if you didn't hit your word goal or didn't reach 50,000 you still put words to page and are that much closer to finishing your story. Every word counts. Good luck with finishing and revising in the future. Hope to see you all back next year!
over 1 year agoIt's Giving Tuesday! Have you donated to NaNo yet? Consider helping the Young Writer's Program inspire young minds.
over 1 year agoHey guys, week two is almost over! HUZZAH! Give yourself a pat on the back for getting this far. Week two is often the hardest so you guys are rockstars. If you're behind, don't worry, you've got lots of time to catch up. And if you don't catch up? That's still okay, you still started a novel. You rock!
over 1 year agoWe're just over one week into Nanowrimo. Hopefully by the end of the day your wordcount will be somewhere around 13,333 words. That is unless you're aiming for more than 50,000
over 1 year agoHey hey, wrimos! It's Double Up Donation Day! Donate to NaNoWriMo for a chance at cool prizes (and to help NaNo HQ keep great programs going for writers). And if you're behind, today is the day to double your word count! Come to the CiGi campus in Uptown Waterloo for the Wild Writers write in before 5pm, or join us at Kwartzlab after 8pm. Your MLs are ready to help you whip your word count into shape!
over 1 year agoWeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Thanks to everyone who came out and made the Kickoff a blast! Only one day left. Time to stock up on Halloween candy and finish off the NaNo prep!
over 1 year ago10 days left before NaNoWriMo 2016 begins. Begin the daily countdown!
over 1 year agoTwo weeks left until writing starts! Can you believe it??
over 1 year agoHappy Thanksgiving! See you at the prep session on Wednesday! :)
almost 2 years ago*blinks*
Yowza! Just a couple more weeks and we'll be diving into NaNo prep! Where has the time gone! If you've been lurking around the forums, waiting for things to get exciting, your wait won't be much longer. As soon as the site relaunches in early October, your shiny MLs will be posting notices for events!
over 2 years agoJust an hour to go now, Wrimos! Don't forget to validate your word counts before midnight to make it official!
over 2 years agoWinner validation begins today! If you've got a green bar for your word count, you can hit "I'm ready to validate my novel" under where you normally update your word count at the top of the page. Copy and paste your words into there and get your purple bar! Remember that the NaNo wordbots in the validator are usually not as generous as most word count programs, so it might shave a couple hundred words off your word count.
over 2 years agoIt's the halfway mark, wrimos! If I can math, it means you've still got over 21,000 minutes left to hit your word goal this month. You can do this!
over 2 years agoAaaaand it's go time. We're off and running. WRITE ALL THE WORDS!
over 2 years agoWhoa. Thanksgiving is over, so that means Halloween is the only thing left standing between us and a whole month of literary abandon! I'm so excited!
almost 3 years agoYes, it's only September, but yes, the calendar for NaNo 2015 is filling up (and mostly full)! Your stupendous MLs are hard at work planning another great month of literary madness for the KWC region. Keep an eye on the forum, as we'll start posting threads for individual events in the coming weeks.
over 3 years agoI just popped open Orwell and the region collected $56.20 in change! Nicely done! Orwell gets a halo! Give yourselves a pat on the back for your contribution to helping NaNo keep the lights on and the website running. You guys rock! Can't wait to see you again next year!
over 3 years agoOh noes! It's over! I am filled with sadness! I'm going to miss you guys!
I hope all of your NaNo dreams came true and that you've got a first draft to be proud of, or a beginning you can expand on. Even if you didn't reach your goal, remember that you are awesome just for beginning. Carry your momentum into December and beyond. You're all rock stars!
over 3 years agoWhat an awesome time at the final overnighter! I hope you guys all had fun, and I'm so glad to see so many purple bars popping up as a result of all our strenuous wordsmithing! I want to give a special thanks to Kwartzlab for being our awesome overnighter hosts again. Also big thanks to Debs & Errol for making the night hilariously magical. :D
over 3 years agoThere are so many purple bars springing up across the region. AWESOME JOB! I'm so proud of you guys! When you validate your win, please consider donating! Help the folks at NaNo HQ keep the forums running. Remember if you haven't got much to spare, you can always drop change into Orwell at the events. Your MLs will be tallying the Orwell total after the TGIO party and donating it to NaNo. Happy writing, wrimos!
over 3 years agoThe weather is kind of icky, but it's cozy and geeky here at Kitchener City Hall where the parking is FREE all day today! So I hope we'll see you at the write-in this afternoon. Don't forget to check all the awesome going on in the Rotunda.
over 3 years agoWhen you validate your novel, remember that the NaNoBot word-counter might not be as generous as your word-counting program, so give yourself a buffer of a couple hundred words or so! And you can still continue to update your word count after you validate. I'm looking forward to seeing more awesome purple bars! Rock on!
over 3 years agoLook at all those sexy green bars appearing in the region. You guys rock! As of now, you can validate your win and start collecting your winner goodies! Woo!
over 3 years agoYour brave MLs are treading through the snow to meet you guys at the event tonight! Remember to drive safely, Wrimos!
Warm your hands up by rolling some dice, slaying some orcs or solving a good old fashioned murder! Games night is on!
over 3 years agoWhoa. We're over halfway! When did that happen?? If your word count is behind, DON'T PANIC, you've got plenty of time to catch up, and your MLs have some awesome write-ins planned to help you power past your word goals. You can do this!
over 3 years agoBack Up Your Novel Day was yesterday, but don't forget to back up your work regularly! Your words matter, so keep them safe! :)
over 3 years agoHey wrimos! Today is officially Double-Up Donation Day! Redouble your commitment to your novel by aiming to double your word count today, and redouble your investment by donating to NaNoWriMo. A donation of $25 will get you the $50 goodies! Contribute today and help keep NaNo going! If you can't donate online, drop some coins into Orwell at the next event and we'll donate on your behalf at the end of the month! Happy writing!
over 3 years agoHope you guys are getting some napping in before our overnighter tonight! Looking forward to our first overnighter this year!
See you there, Wrimos!
over 3 years agoGAH! It's November! GO GO GO! Write! :D
-Ness, who has clearly had too much Halloween candy
over 3 years agoWRIMOS! November is almost upon and I am so stoked for the month! I am ecstatic that you guys are so enthusiastic about our events. Holy moly! I've been combing through the RSVP threads to confirm numbers with our excellent hosts, and I'm blown away by how many of you are coming out. And don't worry if you're late with an RSVP, we're just getting a general idea of numbers to make sure sites can accomodate us. You're still welcome to crash the party. ;)
over 3 years agoThe calendar is fully and completely updated! Check it out and mark your calendars ;)
over 3 years agoHappy Relaunch Day, Wrimos! We'll be having everything up and going ASAP, so make yourselves at home and make sure to follow us on Twitter for updates ;)
almost 4 years agoHoly geez, Wrimos, it's almost time for another awesome month! Your MLs are hard at work planning an excellent month for you. See you guys in October!
over 4 years agoIt's springtime (kinda?)! Time to get your faces over to Camp NaNoWriMo. See you there ;)
over 4 years agoI'm sure I speak for the other MLs, Miroki and Jess, when I say that it was a pleasure to be your MLs for this year and tumble through this crazy, inspiring event with you! We hope you had a blast this year.
Enjoy your well-deserved break while you get ready to edit that masterpiece!
over 4 years agoHope your word-counts are soaring, Wrimos! We're throwing another NaNo night tomorrow which I've affectionately called the Mad-Dash to Midnight! We'll meet you at the Symposium (2-4 King st. N, Waterloo). From 9 pm to midnight, we'll be writing like crazy to finish our novels. From midnight to one, we'll celebrate! Come out, grab a bite, grab a drink and kick off the end of NaNo with us! Hope to see you there!
over 4 years agoThanks to everyone who came to support the Nano table over G33K weekend. And and also visiting Ness at her table!
over 4 years agoHope go see some of you at the write-in goin' on right now! I'm at a set of tables to the right of the entrance. Come enjoy a coffee (or tea, or water) and get that story written with the power of caffeine!
over 4 years agoHope everyone's ready for the write-in crawl! The event starts at Starbucks and gradually makes its way down King street! If you're joining us mid-crawl, you can check the KWC twitter account (@KWCNaNo) or send some NaNo mail to Jessica888 for an update!
See you soon, Adventurers,
over 4 years agoToday's the #NaNoThon! If you donate today, you're entered to win some awesome prizes, and HQ will be live streaming all day! The NaNoSprints account is a-glowing too. Festivities start at 9 am :)
And once you're done with with, our Overnighter begins at 9 pm! You won't want to miss it. It's better than Christmas.
I've also posted information about our Write-In Crawl that is happening next Friday, so make sure to check that out! It'll be loads of fun.
over 4 years agoThe Monday write-in and the overnighter are now posted in the forum! I'll be posting the Wednesday and Thursday write-ins tomorrow. Remember that you don't have to just count on the forum posts to know what's up - they're all listed in the calender (even if a couple locations are TBD).
Now keep writing! You should have hit 3333 words tonight (or last night, since it's 3:30am...)
over 4 years agoHappy NaNoWriMo everyone! WRITE WRITE WRITE!
1) The location of the November 2nd write in has been changed so please check out the thread for details.
2) I hope to see you all at the Kick-Off!
over 4 years agoNANOWRIMO STARTS TOMORROW! HOW EXCITED IS THIS REGION!?
over 4 years agoHope to see some of you at our planning event tonight in Little Bean Coffee Bar. Bring your endless creativity, your writing tools and of course, those fantastic social skills! Jess and I will be wearing our NaNo 2013 shirts so we'll be easy to spot!
over 4 years agoAnd our calender is up and running! Stay tuned for some updates on locations for some of the write-ins that have been posted, as well as the overnighter and some social events. Throughout the month, if you'd like to host an unofficial write-in and have it added to the calender, just let one of us know!
over 4 years agoWelcome back, wrimos! Introduce yourself and make yourself comfortable :) Keep checking back for updates, and in the meantime, reacquaint yourself with the site, fill out your novel info, and follow us on our brand spankin' new Twitter!
over 5 years agoOrwell has raised a whopping $65.73!!! Thank you all who donated to Wrimo! :D
over 5 years agoThank you to those who wrote me such awesome messages wishing me Happy ML Day! I am so grateful for all of your support, and I hope that you are enjoying this month! :D
over 5 years agoA very casual but very fun Halfway Social tonight! I know everyone is so busy and I really appreciated your efforts to make it out and all your company!
Sadly, due to everyone being so busy this year though, I think that poor Orwell may not make it past the finish line. That's ok though, as long as he is fed all your dirty change, he is as happy as can be! 8-)
The Waterloo Festival for Animated Cinema begins tomorrow! A bunch of us will be going, so if you like to join us, post something in the WFAC thread. We will be congregating at 5:45pm tomorrow to see the opening show!
Keep writing! Woo!
over 5 years agoGood super early morning really late at night! (3am!) I just got back from the cast part of our show in Toronto. We closed our show with a sold out audience, which was amazing. It's been such a wonderful experience. But as you can tell, my writing has suffered. I am now over 3000 words behind! You shall definitely see me working hard at our first official Write-In at The Little Bean on Tuesday!
Promises that I will be more available on the forum from here on in *crosses fingers* Happy Writing Everyone! It's hard to get into the groove in the first week as we're adjusting Nano into our schedules. But we can do it!
over 5 years agoGood afternoon lovely writers!
I hope you're all geared up and ready to go soon! I know I'm not! Hahah...it's been really busy for me this October but I promise things are being planned and will fly!
Keep checking the calendar for events. They are not being confirmed in order, so keep checking back!
over 5 years agoOnly a few days since the site launch and already there is so much activity online! That's extremely exciting for a new ML such as myself. I admit that before taking on this position, I had rather been a hermit when it came to online involvement, so I never realized just how active and vibrant the community is!
I am in the process of putting together our major events in November. Please be a bit patient with me as I prepare our exciting month. I am notorious for managing and producing multiple major projects all at the same time, so I do have some split focus, but I promise that the wait will be worth it!
over 6 years agoIn case you missed the thread, Orwell raised over $200 in donations for Nano! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to Orwell this year! OLL, Nano, and the YWP thanks you! =D
over 6 years agoCongrats, Wrimos! It was another excellent year, and I'm pleased to report that we got Orwell across the finish line! You guys are made of so much awesome!
Even if you didn't win, remember that every word you wrote this month is a word you didn't have before and is one step closer to you completing that novel. Try to keep the spirit of writing alive into December and beyond and you will see your novelling dream come true.
