10 months agoWeek 3!
Are you trapped, or just caught up in your story?
Really, they are both OK. And both have a way out.
Feeling trapped is feeling like your story is closing in on you. You can see the end coming quickly and feel there is no way you can expand the plot enough to add enough words to get to your goal.
And feeling caught up in your story is feeling like you want to just keep going…and going…and going. You really like this story, why should it end?
But, both these feelings mean that your story is controlling you. That’s often OK. But it can keep you from your goal. So, take a moment and think about where you want to be with your story on Nov. 30. And how do you want to get there.
We are all at different places, but we all have only one way out. And it’s the same way – keep writing. If you are trapped, look for ways to expand your story.
And if your story is just bubbling out of you (you rare and lucky writer), contain some of that froth. And keep writing.
Week 3 is sort of a hump week, just write every day and Week 4 should find you surfing on your own sea of words.
