11 months agoToday's Jittery Joe's write-in has been moved on line for me. You can still visit Jits if you want. I have a sick kiddo with a stomach bug at home. You can head over to the facebook page and join us for some sprints there, and I'll also have a forum thread open for people not on facebook. Send me a message if you need some help.
11 months agoSo, if you will take a look at my word count, it says a big fat 0. Yep. And it will stay that way until tomorrow, I believe... But, I will still win. Sometimes things don't start the way we plan. Tomorrow is a great time to get ahead with the game in town. Jen and I will both be having on-line write-ins on facebook, check out the Athens Area Wrimos. Jen's will be during the game and mine will be mid morning for those that might actually want to watch the game. I won't. I'll be catching up.
11 months agoHi everyone! Are you getting excited about November 1st? We certainly are! We have lots of exciting events planned this year. First, Avid has partnered with us to host the Kick off party! It's so exciting we can barely contain ourselves. If you have any questions for me or Jen, please don't hesitate to message us.
almost 3 years agoThe month is almost done! It's been exciting my first year as ML. This week is often the hardest week to write with the kids out of school and the holiday. If you aren't traveling, be sure to check some child friendly write-ins this week. I will be adding them the calendar today. And we'll try to add more sprints. For any of you that don't do sprints, I highly recommend them. There is nothing like a little competition to get your creativity flowing.
almost 3 years agoTonight is Athens first Night of Writing Safely. I know not everyone can make it out, but if you can it will be very exciting, I promise. It's free and we have tons of fun goodies and prizes. Even if you can't make it out, join us online in the forums or the facebook group for competitions, sprints, games, and ideas.
almost 3 years agoI will be running the write-in tonight at Jittery Joe's. I'm having a problem changing the event. So if you want to meat me tonight at Alp's Jittery Joe's please do!
almost 3 years agoWelcome back writers!! Just wanted to let everyone know of some changes this year. The lovely Lucy has stepped down to take a break from MLing this year. Taking her place is the fabulous JeannieBeannie, aka Jeannie. Not listed as an official ML (HQ said we could only have two), I'd like to introduce GreenTeaGinger, aka Ginger as our third ML to help run this month's write-ins. Together we'll be a Power of Three trope and work hard to motivate, encourage, and help everyone reach their goals for the month. Don't hesitate to ask us questions here on the forum, in the Facebook group (if you're the type for social media), or message us through Nanomail.
I hope to see everyone through the month, at least online if not in person. Have a great last week of October!
almost 4 years agoNaNoWriMo is over. Now what? First off, I want to thank all the writers who made this a very wonderful year of writing. We have written more than 5 million words. Guys, that's impressive! We had a great showing at the write ins, and particularly the online sprints on the Facebook group. I'm very proud of all the writers from the ones who wanted to start, but never did to the ones who were cheering each other across the finish line last night.
Please also give a great round of applause to my co-ML boomchick whom many of you were able to meet as Lucy this year. She's stepping down as ML but she's staying around as a wrimo. I couldn't have done what we did without her.
I'm hoping to keep things going through the winter doldrums, maybe some get togethers for editing and revising. There will also be Camp Nanowrimo in April and July of 2015 if you want to mark your calendars now. Keep checking the forum and this page as any future events between now and next October will be kept here where everyone can find them.
almost 4 years agoCan you believe we're halfway through!? MADNESS!
almost 4 years agoI know Lucy already posted a note, but I also wanted to thank everyone for coming out tonight! Over on Facebook, NaNoWriMo is trending on my feed! I'm so excited for all our writers today! Thank you so much for coming out tonight! If you need anything, questions, plot bunnies or ideas, life strategies, or just suggestions for food that's easy to eat while typing or good music to listen to, don't hesitate to drop us a line, here, FB or even the Twitter. Guys, as a group, we're halfway* to one full novel being written..just today! *27,390 words as of this posting for the region!
almost 4 years agoWow wow and wow!!! What an incredible first day! Thanks to everyone who's been working so hard, and to everyone who was able to come join us at Avid Bookshop to celebrate! So proud to be in this region!
almost 4 years agoNanowrimo BEGINS THIS SATURDAY!!! Can you believe it!? It's time to get those novels made and prepare for an adventure!!!
almost 4 years agoAPOLOGIES! Lucy(boomchick) the ML here! I went on autopilot and scheduled my write ins for Wednesdays like usual, but they are actually on Tuesdays this year! SO sorry for the confusion. I will probably also be up to writing Wednesdays though.
Once again, sorry for the mix up!
