WOW! We did it! You did it! No matter how many words were written every one of use moved forward in writing our novel, play, poem, or musical! Awesome! According to the stats for our region, there were 107 of us writing for 1.85 million words with an average word count of 17.4K. Every one of you are super heros!

So let's celebrate! What do you say to Rosati's Pizza in Normal next Wednesday evening? Details to follow. :-)

Wow! There are only 5 full days left to this year's NaNoWriMo - how far along are you? Whether you're closing in on that mystical, magical 50,000 word count or you just have a durn good outline and character bios completed, it's no matter. You took the time, and the challenge, to craft a dream.

I am hoping all the work you have done will lead you to bigger, cooler writing, like the completion of a novel, or a screen play, or a poem, or a musical! You have to begin somewhere and I'm just so happy you have devoted time and effort to take that first of many steps forward. I look forward to listening to you read your work!

John Brotherton will be facilitating the event as I'll be out of town. John will have the room to the left of the cash register and he's tall and lanky with a beard so you can't miss him. He has stickers if you haven't received yours yet. Everybody have fun! I'll be writing long distance so I hope to see that word count rise!

There are several ways of finding out what's happening during NaNoWriMo, as well as other times of the year with local writers. I post the same info in multiple locations.

§ NaNoWriMo - Through our Home region (https://nanowrimo.org/regions/usa-illinois-bloomington-normal) I post updates and there's a link to the calendar with all the events.
§ Facebook - We have two FB groups if you're into social media. You must request access to both as they are private groups. Just search for BloNoWriMo and/or Bloomington-Normal Writers. I'll grant you access. Calendar events are also posted here.
§ Email - I send out weekly notices via email. If you aren't receiving them, then I may not have your correct email address. Please let me know at wxgrrl@bigfoot.com or through our NaNoWriMo email.

WOW - and we're off and running! Er, writing! We had a great turnout, seeing that it was a rainy evening. It was so good to see familiar faces and new faces, and to learn a little about each other. We got some "serious" writing in and we all have something to post for our first day of NaNoWriMo. I'll email our NaNoWriMo names/handles out shortly.

At last check, there are 89 of us novelists writing in our region, with 119,336 words written so far. That's up from 27,114 words about this time yesterday! To help up the count, we'll have a writing session this Saturday, November 4th, from 2-4 pm CT at The Coffeehouse in Uptown Normal for anyone who's interested for a little quality writing time. :-)

Have you been thinking about what you are going to write beginning tomorrow? If you are a planner, then you've been doing your research, coming up with themes, outlining your chapters. If you are a pantser, you are daringly going to wait until November rolls around before plunging in.

Whatever works for you, please plan to join us throughout the month of November, beginning with our NaNoWriMo kick off on Wednesday, 11/1/17, at the Normal Public Library's Board Room at 6:30 pm CT. A full list of our meeting dates are posted on our Google calendar below or on our Facebook BloNoWriMo page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/516560915087829/).

Whew! Another November behind us and another NaNoWriMo! Some of us surpassed the goal by a lot, some of us by just a few, some of us came in just shy, and some of us just had time to put a few words together. No matter your final total, you are a winner just to put pen to paper as it were. So congratulate yourself and plan to join us in a celebratory dinner sometime next week. Please post or email your suggestion for a restaurant and a date and time so I can arrange things! See you soon!

Only two more days to make that word count! If you were like me, this holiday was a tough time to concentrate and write. But also if you were like me you found some time to scribble a few words here and there.

We'll be wrapping up the official NaNoWriMo this Wednesday, November 30th, from 6-8 pm CT, in the Board Room of the Normal Public Library. Come finish that word count with your fellow writers!

To celebrate the end of NaNoWriMo 2016, let's plan to have dinner sometime next week. Post a good place to eat and your best day and time and I'll arrange things. Write on!

Yawn! Well, we made it until 12:30 am last Sunday morning writing madly away. We had a good turnout and word count was amazing! We even had some new faces to write with and I might I have recruited a new writer! You never know who you'll meet in Denny's.

Our last official writing event will be next Wednesday, November 30th, from 6-8 om CT, in the Board Room of the Normal Public Library. It will be the officially NaNoWriNo wrap up for this year - but that doesn't mean you have to stop writing on your novel! Keep working on that wonderful story line! I hope to see all of you after Thanksgiving.

Take time off this holiday to spend time with family and friends! Don't forget you have other writers to lean on. Connect to us via our NaNoWriMo Home Region or on FB. :-) Write on!

Our last event will be the NaNoWriMo Wrap Up on Wednesday, November 30th, in the Board Room of the Normal Public Library. Take some time off for family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday. I do hope you can make to one of these events, but if not, don't forget you have other writers to lean on. Connect to us via our NaNoWriMo Home Region or on FB. :-) Write on!

The half way mark! I know you all are pounding the keyboard every chance you get, but take a moment to breathe, to walk the dog, play with the kids - step away for the computer or notepad and relax. We had a great writing session on Sunday and have two more scheduled before Thanksgiving. The first one is tomorrow evening, Wednesday, November 16, from 6:15-8 pm CT, at The Coffeehouse in Uptown Normal. Then on Saturday, November 19, we'll be doing an "overnight" writing event at Denny's in Bloomington, from 7 pm CT until ?? Last year we made it to midnight! I do hope you can make to one of these events, but if not, don't forget you have other writers to lean on. Connect to us via our NaNoWriMo Home Region or on FB. :-) Write on!

We had a great session on Wednesday night. For a long while all that was heard was the tapping of keys and we generated a healthy number of words! And so it continues - join us this Sunday, November 13, from 2-4 pm CT in the Board Room of the Normal Public Library or may join us on Wednesday, November 16, from 6:15-8 pm CT at The Coffeehouse in Uptown Normal. I hope you can make one of our writing events!
