10 months agoHey everyone!
Congratulations on making it through another November! Even if you didn't reach 50k, at least you now have more than you started with and hopefully have more ideas and inspiration for the future. If you haven't seen the stats, our region wrote almost 1.5 million words!
In regards to a TGIO (Thank God It's Over) party, I'm trying to find a good time/date that will work. I know December is not much better than November in regards to timing, but hopefully we can get together sooner rather than later. Please let me know what days/times work for you and hopefully we can pull together something that will work for most people. Reply here or let me know in Discord, and I'll try to put something on the calendar in the next day or two.
Unless someone has an alternate idea, I would be more than happy to host everyone once more! We had a great kick-off party and I hope you're able to come for at least a short time whenever that is.
10 months agoHappy Thanksgiving Day, everyone!
10 months agoFlash Write-in! Today from 12-2 at the Bozeman Public Library.
We'll occupy whatever space we can find, so come look for our unofficial mascot, NaNo, the Red-Nosed WriMoose.
Join us in person, or remotely via word sprints posted on Discord and here on the forum.
11 months agoDo you want to go somewhere and do something today/tonight, but you have a novel to write? You're looking at the official calendar, but you see nothing scheduled? Scroll down. Check out our regional forum. Chances are, somebody else feels the same way. See if they posted before you had a chance to. Tell us where you'll be writing and when if you want us to join you. Let's get writing!
11 months agoHappy NaNo Eve! Are you excited? Nervous? Unprepared? Wondering how you're going to survive? Prepared for every possible contingency?
Wherever you're at, you got this! Whether your start at midnight tonight or at the first available hour after work, it's time to get this party started!
11 months agoNaNoWriMo 2017 Kickoff Party!
Come and go this Sunday, October 29th 2pm - 4pm to meet/greet and introduce our moose buddies to each other (optional). Snack contributions are welcome but not required. Consult the regional calendar for details.
We look forward to meeting you for the first time or visiting with you once again.
almost 2 years agoTGIO Party!
The Saturday party has been canceled. Unfortunately, our host came down with a case of sick children, who we hope are doing much better!
SUNDAY: We are still on for 6-9 pm at Shannon's home! All are invited, bring your kids, and hot drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring a snack if you would like. (No alcohol, please.)
almost 2 years agoFINAL WRITE-IN!
Tonight from 7-9 (and/or later) we'll be in the conference room at Coldsmoke! Come get that last big push in toward victory, keep working on that incomplete novel, and rejoice at all you've accomplished!
TGIO (Thank God It's Over) Party!
Very soon! Likely Saturday or Sunday evening. Stay tuned!
almost 2 years agoSneak a peek at our regional forum if you haven't in a while. We've added a new thread to encourage remote participation in word sprints and similar writing challenges. Also, if you find your wordcount woefully lagging, do not despair. As long as there is November, there is hope. Avail yourself of our forum-centric writing incentives, keep your eyes peeled for word sprints, and for pop-up gatherings of WriMoose near you. Plan now to attend our final write-in on Wednesday, November 30th. If by that time you have already passed the 50K finish line, you can take that time to write more (if the manuscript is still unfinished), edit, or simply read what you have written. Just a few days remain--you got this!
almost 2 years agoLOCATION CHANGE!
Tomorrow (Wednesday), Coldsmoke is closing early, so our write-in will be from 7-9 at my home. Please see the write-in thread or the Google event for more information.
almost 2 years agoIf you're an early bird, don't forget about our write in tomorrow morning (Monday) from 7AM-9AM at Rockford Coffee (next to the Tea & Spice Traders downtown), and our Wednesday write-in from 7PM-9PM (and beyond) at Coldsmoke in the conference room. It's a good time to get ahead before all the Thanksgiving craziness sets in!
If you can't make it to either of those, I hope you're able to remain productive and enjoy your writing wherever you are. I hope you remember that even if you are far behind the word count, any words you've written is still more than you had when you started. Have a great week!
almost 2 years agoAt the time I am posting this note, I am behind in my word count by more than 15,000 words.
The upstairs neighbors just parked outside my living room window screaming at each other, screamed up the stairs, slammed their door, and proceeded to scream some more. They are still screaming. I might need to call the police. What a way to start Week Three, after migraines, fever, and the presidential election having already interfered with Weeks One and Two. I am so glad there is a write-in tonight.
Speaking of write-ins, it's a great way to meet fellow participants in our area, and to receive a new burst of energy into your manuscript. Come to your next write-in prepared to write. Sure, we will drink caffeinated beverages, chat, visit, and receive little participant goodies from the goodie box, but we will also plunge forward into the Morass of Week Three, beating back the word count deficit and subjugating the Inner Editor for November Remains.
Hope to see you soon!
almost 2 years agoHEY! I see a spot for more notes! I thought ML messages automatically went into the notes section, but apparently not.
MONDAY, November 7th @ 7 AM: Write-in at Rockford Coffee (near ACE Hardware).
WEDNESDAY, November 9th from 7-9 PM: Write in in the conference room at Coldsmoke. We'll have a note on the door so you'll know it's us. Join us for a word war!
almost 2 years agoEvents have been scheduled on the calendar, and more will be added as we confirm the details. Your intrepid MLs are finalizing arrangements based on the information we have so far, but we value more input to better serve you. In our regional forum we have posted a few potential days/times for write-ins, so join the conversation now if you would like to have some say in the scheduling.
Talk to us if you have any good ideas regarding write-ins. Suggest locations around town where you like to write, and we'll do our level best to incorporate them into the schedule. MSU STUDENTS: We need expert location suggestions for on-campus write-ins (so please help us out). Feel free to message any of us, or post ideas/questions in the forums.
If transportation is an issue for you, check the Transportation Issues forum thread--you may find someone ready and willing to assist you.
Thank you for joining us, and we hope to see you soon--either at a write-in, or here on the forums!
