Dear Wrimos,

Congratulations! You’ve been accepted to NaNo’s school of writing and adrenaline! Please find enclosed a list of suggested supplies, as well as a few instructions on where to go. NaNo’s kick-off party is this Saturday, October 29th, from 5-10 pm at the Panera Bread across from the Galleria Mall in Poughkeepsie (right next to Cold Stone!).

Don’t forget to pick a label for yourself. Are you a planner, or are you a pantser? It’s important to pick one as your house will follow you through the entire month of November as you embark on your magical journey into the realm of novel writing.

Are you a planner? Rebecca, the head of Slytherplan, is your go-to for you planners. This noble house often needs a self-made guide in order to successfully reach the 50,000 word goal. Meticulous and cunning, Slytherplans usually have outlines and notes to reduce their stress. But don’t forget, Slytherplans are often great at engaging in discussion about the deepest areas of their character’s development because they came up with it all BEFORE November 1st!

Or are you a pantser? Tracy, the head of Gryffinpants, is your go-to for you pantsers. You choose to live life by the seat of your pants, letting your brain and your characters take you wherever you need to go. Each day is a mystery of writing as you stick your nose up at silly things like deciding on a topic beforehand. Gryffinpants are often impulsive writers. Need a thousand words? Throw in a nuclear bomb, or a zombie horde! Doesn’t make sense? That’s okay, you’ll fix it in editing!

Make sure to attend write-ins, engage with each other on the boards, and work hard towards your goal of 50,000 words in order to earn points for your house.

Welcome, writing wizards, to this year’s National Novel Writing Month.

Sincerely,

Rebecca, Head of Slytherplan

Tracy, Head of Gryffinpants

Panera Bread Address: 2020 South Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY The Kick-Off will be held in the back room.

Thank you for another great year fellow wrimos.
A reminder that we still have our TGIO Party coming this Saturday.
We do continue meeting throughout the year on the first Saturday of every month at Panera Bread in Poughkeepsie. This is usually posted via our FaceBook page. If you do not have a FB account, please contact either Rebecca or Tracy for details on how to stay up to date.
During the months of Camp NaNo in April and July, we meet every weekend. Please let your ML's know if you are interested in these write in's.
Finally, you're ML's will be posting a survey soon. We hope you can take the survey to give us your feedback (we are already planning for next year).
Thanks again!

Hello wrimos,
We begin our final week of nano soon. There may be joy over accomplishing the 50K and congrats to those who start verifying! There also may be panic at the girth of the word count you have left. Don't let that bother you and keep on pushing towards your daily word counts and then some. You can do this!

Friendly Reminder
Please back-up your novel/work somewhere. We would hate for you to lose what you have worked so hard to achieve.
With that said, please do not use NaNoMail as a backup method. The website does a yearly clean sweep of data so it can be effective. So your work will not be saved there.

So I was a swimmer in HS and college and I remember my coaches having a sheet with the various exercises we would do that would be at the side of the pool for me to mentally check of the next small bit of exercise.
How does that connect to writing you may ask? I mentioned 2 days ago that the word crawls were the way to go... and that was when I had started one. Let me tell you, it breaks up the monotony and makes it like a check list to the amount of words you do.
Well at my best have only hit 2,500 words a day and that's usually on days I leave my house for a write in. Yesterday I broke 3K at 3,093 because I did one of the crawls. There are so many versions to pick from- Disney, Game of Thrones, Dr Who, pubs, fantasy, you name it.
It's a perfect way to 'exercise' and get your word count done! So go find your poison and happy writing.
