12 months agoThank you to everyone who came to the prep talk last night. If you couldn't make it you can still pick up your goodie bags, have your questions answered, and get prepped at our Kick-Off party next Saturday (10/29) 1-4 at the LE Phillips Library in the Eau Claire Room.
Even if you did attend last night you should still come to the Kick-Off party to play some games and win PRIZES! Plus, I just love you seeing your faces. Hope to see you then!
about 1 year agoHello Wrimos! It's that wonderful time of year again when the leaves begin to change color, the air feels crisp, and our fingers itch to get back into National Novel Writing Month.
Take time to reacquaint yourself with everything, make a novel cover, and dig the new additions to the site.
The dates for this year's NaNoWriMo have been set. Check out our regional calendar below for more details. (And see the forum post on how to sync our calendar with yours!)
If you have any questions, concerns, thoughts, ideas, jokes, or just need a hug - I'm your ML again this year and I'm here for all your novel writing concerns. Contact me here through the buddy mail system, on facebook, or in person at one of the events.
To help tackle this November I'll be giving a NaNoWriMo prep talk at the LE Phillips Library in The Eau Claire room on Thursday, October 20 at 7pm. There will be exclusive NaNoWriMo swag and answering of questions as well as plotting tips and how to stay sane (and hopefully, successful) during November.
The Kick-Off Party will also be at the library this year in the Red Cedar Room on Saturday, October 28 from 1p - 4p. Get to know your fellow wrimos, play games, plot your novel, and pick up more exclusive NaNoWriMo swag (seriously, the swag is awesome this year so don't miss out!)
I'm very pleased to announce that there are a TON of Write-Ins scheduled this year. Here is the full list (again, check our regional calendar for more information):
Sundays @ 12:30p - 3:30p (11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 11/27) at The Goat Coffee House on Water St in the backroom
Mondays @ 7p - 10p (11/7, 11/14, 11/21, 11/28) at the Acoustic Cafe on Barstow St.
Tuesdays @ 12p - 4p (11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/22, 11/29) in the Red Cedar Room of the Library
Also on Tuesdays from 6p-8pm there will be a traveling write-in at various locations throughout the city:
Ox Bow 11/1, CV Museum 11/8, Davies Center on the UW campus 11/15, and Coffee Grounds 11/29
Returning by popular demand (and because it was crazy fun last year) our very own Night Of Writing Dangerously here in Eau Claire will be on Saturday, November 19 from 10pm - 2am at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in the Social hall (downstairs). It's $10 to attend this event but the money goes to NaNoWriMo. There will be word sprints, prizes, and a candy potluck. Don't miss out!
And finally, that bittersweet time when NaNoWriMo ends we'll have a Wrap-Up Party on Sunday, December 4 from 12:30p - 3:30p at The Pub Bar and Grill in Action City. We'll eat, celebrate, commiserate, play games, and talk about what to do with our novels now that November is over. I really hope everyone can make it. This is a great time to talk about what worked and what didn't as well as find out about the resources you have through NaNoWriMo and beyond.
I'm so very excited for NaNoWriMo to start up again and I hope you all are too. Let's make this one the best yet!
about 2 years agoHey WriMos of Eau Claire!
We're gearing up for another 30 days of craziness! First, we'd like to introduce ourselves. We are aimeed and PiratePreacher - the MLs for this region. We are here to help you with all your NaNo-ing challenges (aside from actually writing your novel, that is). Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
We have a lot of fun events planned for November - Kick-off parties, Write-Ins, and (so excited about this!!) A Night Of Writing Dangerously right here in Eau Claire. Check the calendar and forums for dates and further details. We've set up Write-Ins three times a week at various times and locations to (hopefully) make it easier for everyone to fit Write-Ins into your various schedules.
We have a Facebook page (check the links section to join), we're also on Twitter and Instagram - #wrimosofec. We'd love to hear about your progress and see pictures of your writing areas. Basically we just want to make this November as much fun as possible.
Don't forget to check the forums below for updates, information, announcements, and encouragements. Feel free to start your own thread.
We hope you have a great November!
